Arriving at the
Speedway, we start unloading. Dwight prepares for
his first run of the day but not before posing for some
pictures. The bleachers look full don't they? But they're
painted to fool the eye and make it look like it's full of
spectators. There were no spectators in these particular
stands. He straps himself in
with a 6 point harness. The cage which was recently
installed can e seen by his left elbow. He's on his way.
Drivers side has a window net for additional
safety. Each run is about
15-18 minutes. This is the back straight away. Advertising
billboards abounds. Our Orange 21 is the 3rd car
down. Dwights coming in from
the run. This picture was taken from on top of a
building. Paul and Dwight take a
break between runs. The canopy attached to the trailer
provides a much needed break from the Las Vegas heat. Always
at our side is the ice chest filled with lots of cold
water. His suit is fire
retardant and extremely hot on hot summer days. It was 90
degrees in the afternoon on Saturday and Sunday. He changes out his new
tires after his first run on Saturday and let's them rest
for 24 hours before putting them back on for the Sunday
race. Paul was extremely
helpful being part of the Team. Tires needed changing, and
pressure of each wheel is carefully monitored after each
race and lowered to a proper temperature. As the day wore on
and the tires became more heated, they expanded and had to
be bled out more after each race. Dwight visits with
fellow driver and mentor Alan. Alan's wife, Dottie also
races, but had other committments for this weekend and
couldn't make it. Dwight and three
fellow drivers from Colorado during the social hour at the
end of the day. Dave Stribling is on the left. No alcohol is allowed
open anywhere inside the speedway until all cars have been
called in for the day and the speedway is no longer
"hot". Chief Pit Boss
(Blondie) and Dwight. My job was to keep the car shiny
clean~~~~~ and clean it was. Daydream Racing Team
is getting ready to hit the road to Denver - It's only 14
